“I’m the Queen of Mix and Match”, says Paris based, Iranian born architect and designer India Mahdavi.
This is clear in the interiors she’s designed for the Hôtel Du Cloître in the heart of Arles’ historic old town.
Its nineteen rooms display Mahdavi’s signature of mix and match custom and vintage furnishings and saturated colours.
Mahdavi enjoys playing with colour combinations. “What’s interesting for me is how you can put them in danger,” she says. “You can assemble them where it’s almost like you’re walking on the edge of a cliff.”
The Hôtel Du Cloître is owned by the Swiss art collector Maja Hoffmann, and is the unofficial hub of Arles’ effervescent cultural scene.
