My Favourite Bathrooms

Whether rushing in for a quick shower or luxuriating in a long bath, bathrooms are rooms that we use, and should therefore enjoy, daily.

The fashion of all-white bathrooms seems (thankfully!) to be nearing an end. There’s nothing intrinsically wrong with white. But if your bathroom looks more like a clinical laboratory than an inviting home, your love of white may have gone too far…….

This first bathroom shows just how far you can go in the other direction! Still with a crisp, clean look but personalised with some glorious colour. Difficult to start your day grumpy amidst all that happiness.

But there are other ways to bring colour into your bathroom. This second image features peachy-blush with warm timbers. Even the rounded angles of the mirrors add to the soft, welcoming atmosphere.

Natural stone (or look-alike porcelain tiles) add subtle colour but dramatic, organic pattern. I think there’s something deep in all of our prehistoric brains that responds positively to the feeling of bathing in a cave!

And if your home is traditional, there’s no reason that your bathroom should be a contrast of white modernity. Custom timber cabinetry and natural (or look-alike) stone will ensure your bathroom decor reflects the look of the rest of your home.

I think the key thing to remember about bathroom design is that there are many more options than you might at first think. Your bathroom is one of the most used rooms in your home. Don’t let it be a design after-thought.
