Q Amanda, tell us a bit about yourself …..
A My name’s Amanda Ewbank and I’m the owner of Pebble + Palm Interiors.
Q How long have you lived in Adelaide?
A My whole life… although I spent a number of years travelling and studying in my 20s and ended up in Melbourne for a few years.
Q What do you enjoy most about living in Adelaide?
A The people, our gorgeous beaches and the lifestyle we are able to live here, we are so, so lucky.
Q Why did you start your Adelaide business?
A After 20+ years in corporate banking I was tired and exhausted I didn’t feel the joy I felt like I should about my work, I had studied interior design whilst in Melbourne and it was time to put all that study to work. I had always dreamed of opening a homewares store; I have a small cushion problem you see! One night when my husband asked me what I really wanted to do, it was so easy to answer I wanted to own a homewares store. The next week I signed a lease and then had to figure the rest out… I am still learning!
Q How would you describe what’s special about your Adelaide business?
A Our point of difference is that we are stylists and work with our customers to create spaces they can live in and love. We also offer interior styling consults and workshops. We specialise in boho, coastal and tropical looks. Our store is filled with natural textures, handmade ceramics and all things light, bright and breezy!
Q What are your favourite Adelaide places to eat?
A That’s such a tricky question. There’s so many local faves – we are super casual so love to be able to walk off the beach and into a café. Jetty Road, Brighton is our local; and for something where you have to wear shoes, breakfast in McLaren Vale is lovely and we are regulars at the Stirling Pub in winter.
Q What are your favourite Adelaide places to drink and what is your favourite South Australian drink?
A Peel Street is great for a gin, or on the balcony watching the sun go down at the Seacliff is spectacular.
Q What are your favourite Adelaide shops for furniture and homewares?
A Pebble & Palm Interiors of course! Some of my other faves are Willy Stewart or Two Pairs on Magill Road; here in the south of Adelaide, Aqua Living and Lotus at Brighton or Canopy Home Fashion in Noarlunga or Port Adelaide.
Q Who is your favourite Adelaide tradesperson?
A Josh Vandermeer
JRV Electrical
Electrician
0430 210 946
Friendly and professional.
Q What books are you currently reading?
A I am re-reading a Brene Brown fave, ‘Dare to Dream’.
Q What’s on your current playlist?
A Anything acoustic.
Q Which travel destinations would you recommend?
A Oh, to travel again. My all time favourite place is Karinjini National Park in WA. It’s simply stunning! I’d also love to sit by the pool and sip pina coladas in Fiji again.
Q What are your favourite things to do in Adelaide and South Australia?
A Walk on the beach, drive through the hills, people watch at one of the amazing cafes in Brighton; and sit in my beautiful shop and chat with customers.
Q Anything else you’d like to share with the OLIO community of Interior Design lovers?
A It’s not what the world holds for you. It’s what you bring to it. This is my favourite quote that I live by from my childhood inspiration, Anne of Green Gables.
Pebble + Palm Interiors is one of the fabulous homewares shops we meet on some of our OLIO Tours.
