Adding a dash of yellow to your home interior is like adding a dash of pure happiness. Yellow is the colour of the sun and daffodils and all things positive. Of course, you can go totally wild and paint your whole room yellow. But even just a sprinkling of this inherently happy colour can pack a real design punch.
Dining chairs are always a good candidate for a pop of colour. In our open plan living, bold dining chair upholstery can be a useful aid in defining the dining area as separate to the living area. Yellow can look particularly beautiful teamed with golden timbers as it is in this first image.
If you love natural colours in your interiors, consider yellow as an exotic spice that adds flavour when used in small amounts. In this second image, the yellow books and small artwork are tiny in size but significant in bringing life to this otherwise neutral living space.
Yellow can also be an arresting colour when used in an artwork. In this room, the yellow of the artwork is echoed in the yellow and taupe patterned rug which pulls the colours of the room together.
Yellows can work just as well in a more traditional setting as in a contemporary space. Pared back in a pattern with soft greys and taupes, here yellow brings soft warmth rather than an electrifying jolt.
Consider whether there’s a place in your home to introduce some yellow sunshine. It can work well in any room and makes it very difficult to stay grumpy for too long!
